Jessica Goldsworthy new work in production.

Jessica continues to explore her interest in 1950's cartoons.  Working with screen printing, Jessica has been able to develop ideas, creating hand printed bags and posters.

Sophie Milburn, (pictured left with a gift from The Cloud Commission www.thecloudcommission.com/aka Carlos Rosati) has taken silk screen printing and the art of Japanese stab binding to a new dimension with these fabulous and fun felt books.  'Soon to be for sale work' the books have a quirky and unique look to them, ideal gifts for children and adults included.

Print Perfect

Print Perfect are a group of year 9 students based at St Bedes, Lanchester,http://www.stbedes.durham.sch.uk/ taking part in a Creative Partnerships Project http://www.creative-partnerships.com/ with Artist Theresa Easton.  They make books based on different projects, for example plain books with a colourful front cover. Print Perfect also design patterns to go on T-SHIRTS and bags. The students at Print Perfect work on their projects every week and will sell them at festivals. The Sunderland project is on the football team and one of the boats people built at Sunderland. I used screen printing to put the pictures on the books. When the school fair comes I will hope to sell all my copies.

We are focusing on floral print, flowers and butterflies. From this we are making a range of books and bags. We have spent the time we had designing images on to acetate which we were later able to print on to the pages in our books. We also screen printed a large flower on to some bags and it ended up looking really effective. All of our work will be on sale at the school fair so come along and take a look and maybe even make a purchase.

I’m making things that focus on silhouettes and making printed bags. I’m also going to make a felt book, like you could have for a small child. I’m using screen printing to make my bags, but painting the ink onto the screen which the others don’t do. I think the bags look quite cool as they have bright, multi-coloured fairies on the.                                                    Sophie Milburn

I’m making bags with a design on of ‘oldish’ cartoons, these bags are made for all ages, I’ve been using screen prints to print it on, the two colours I’ve used is pink and blue for the colours of it.

I’m printing on to bags I got an idea for the bag out of a newspaper. It’s a girl on a swing and the swing is on the tree. Am using orange and red for the tree.  A black out line for the girl and a black out line for the tree. The bags are for all ages. Am using a screen print to get the picture on to the bag.
